WSG members, Peter and I have asked members on numerous occasions to avoid posting suggestions or comments directly to the list.
The aim of the list is to discuss web standards, not optional ways of running the list. With 600 plus members, we cannot afford to keep having these open debates. It creates too much OT traffic. If you have comments or suggestions, email us directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED] From now on, repeat offenders will now be removed from the list. A few things to set the record straight. 1. We will not be moving to a forum in the near future. This topic has been debated many times. If you do not like the list method of interaction then feel free to leave the list and join a forum. Please do not bring this subject up on-list again. If you have comments or suggestions, email Peter and I - not the list. 2. We will not be splitting the list into a series of subject-based lists. This has also been debated many times. Please do not bring this subject up on-list again. If you have comments or suggestions, email Peter and I - not the list. 3. The WSG is about providing an exchange of information and assistance to web designers and developers. This means that discussion of theoretically issues such as semantically correct coding is completely on-topic. It also means that members asking for help is also completely on-topic (one of our aims is to provide web standards assistance to developers). We will not be discouraging members from asking for help. Moving towards web standards is sometimes scary and stressful. This list aims to help members make the transition as smoothly as possible. If you do not like to read the requests for assistance, you have many options, but the bottom line is that you can always unsubscribe from the list. 4. We are all unhappy with holiday messages coming into the list. We try to deal with these messages as swiftly as possible. Offenders are immediately moved to digest mode. If you have comments or suggestions, email Peter and I - not the list. 5. All the standard guidelines about posting to mail lists apply in the WSG mail list. Common ones include: A. Stay on topic (at least within our broader topic) B. Trim replies C. Don't hijack a thread, if you want to change topics, use a new subject. D. Turn off receipts E. Be respectful of other members. F. If asking for help, validate first, provide detailed info on the problem and always provide links to the html and css files in question. Although this all sounds scary, our aim is to provide you with a list that is healthy and user-friendly, with members exchanging information freely and happily with each other. So, lets get back to the topic at hand (web standards) and have fun. Thanks for making the list what it is today.
