Hi Bob,
There's no good reason to use Split mode when running WSPR in WSJT-X.
WSPR sub-bands are only 200 Hz wide, and the Tx audio ranges only from
1400 to 1600 Hz -- always near the center of any reasonable SSB filter.
If you find it a pain to switch between Split mode for JT9 and JT65, and
non-Split for WSPR, you can save two standard setups, like I do. Start
one with the command "wsjtx" and the other with the command "wsjtx -r
WSPR". Your whole setup, including waterfall resolution and speed,
etc., can be optimized separately for each mode.
