Well...the version in the window title is pretty useless. It doesn't give the
version#.What's in the About box does.
Not a bad idea to may stick the rev# in the status message though. The rev#
isn't connected to the major/minor version#'s which are man-made. The rev# is
from the svn version so is machine generated and much more indicative of
exactly which version is running.

The downside to this is that the version of the running WSJT-X instance is no
longer available to third party applications.
When I receive support emails for JTAlert and note that the user is running a
dev version of WSJT-X that will often influence my response or the ability to
diagnose the reported issue. There have been numerous occasions where a user
was reporting a problem that I was able to quickly dismiss because it was
apparent they were running a dev or a user-compiled dirty version of WSJT-X. If
the version is removed permanently, then there should be a way to
programmatically determine the version number, perhaps in a UDP status message.
