Hi Mike,

what you are calling the version number is the source control change number which bears no relation to the version of the software, for example it does not tell you the branch that the code has been built from. The version number on the window title refers to released or to be released evolutionary step and is by far the best indication of what is to be expected in terms of program features. IMHO removing the version string from the window title bars is not a good idea. OTOH I do agree that if multiple configurations are being used then some indication of the current selection would be useful although I do not consider two mouse clicks to be particularly onerous to discover the current configuration.

I do note that the top level menu keyboard short cuts seem to be broken so finding the current configuration from the keyboard is a bit ugly at present (Alt, Right-arrow, Down-arrow, ESC, ESC).
