How do you do the simulation?

The TIME_ON defaults to the logging time only when it hasn't been set yet. Currently only done when Tx 2 or 3 is clicked by either Next or Now.
Are you simulating without clicking? That might 'splain it.

Hi Mike,

two instances of WSJT-X connected by a digital audio loop back. One with call A and one with call B.

Both call using "CALL-A CALL-B" or "CALL-B CALL-A" as appropriate on alternate periods. I actually started one somewhat later than the other as is to be expected sometimes.

Eventually I simulate A see a message from B (or vice versa) after a few periods by double clicking a decoded message.

Some time later I do the same at the other instance.

Repeat until both have sent and received 73 messages. All replies are delayed a few periods to simulate a poor communications channel.

BTW the report I had of incorrect times was:

"Sending a message containing 73 now generates a Start Time log entry 2 mins before the actual start of QSO.

This bug began with WSJT-X v1.7.1 r7555."

When I looked into this I could see that there were many edge cases where QSO start time would not reflect reality.
