Looks like SAT mode is the FT-897's spit mode.  Have you tried doing QSOs with
rig split on?  The big difference with SAT mode is you are on VHF/UHF split
typically but same band should be possible too.

Hi all,I have already mentioned what my FT-847 does when I as a hound choose
'Rig': It switches the radio to SAT mode!So I can use 'Rig' only. It' s no
problem at all.
Otherwise I do not know why the waterfall is always grey in DXe rc4.It has not
been grey when I used rc3.gl de ha6nnAndras

If my observation is right, the real split mode is using the secondary
VFO of your XCVR, sometimes set to a different frequency as the main
VFO, as the VFO of the TX phase. In contrast, in fake split mode, only
the main VFO is used and its frequency is changed sometimes during the
TX phase. The goal is always to maintain the audio frequency, during the
TX phase, in the 1500 to 2000 Hz range. You can only use the real split
mode if your rig has a secondary VFO and if it's capable of switching
the VFO's using CAT commands.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Best wishes,
Claude (DJ0OT)
