Please, please, please backup your registry before attempting this,
editing the Windows registry manually is one of the easiest ways of
screwing up a Windows installation irrecoverably and should not be
attempted unless you are sure you know what you are doing.
Use the "Apps and Features" applet to remove old "phantom" entries, the
worst damage you can do there is uninstall something you did not intend
to remove but can be easily repaired by reinstalling.
