Mike,
It fails with the same error message if "Network Server" is blank.
Localhost (127.0.0.1) is not a valid ip address for a radio and port
4992 is not serviced by either SSDR or SSDR CAT on the PC.
Radio ip address:4992 or radiohostname:4992 does work.

It sounds like you have a value in the "Network Server" box which you
should not need for the Slice rigs.

Went back to Flex XXX
Hope this helps.

( wsjt-x-rc5/Hamlib 2024-06-30-T21:25Z, Flex 6600, SSDR 3.7.4)
1) When upgrading from RC4 ( which was running Flex 6xxx hamlib),
rig selection was changed from Flex 6600 to ADT-200A.
2) Selecting SmartSDR slice A for rig results in Hamlib error..
Setting network ser5ver to 192.168.7.166:4992
<http://192.168.7.166:4992> does work...
3) selecting rig flex 6xxx does work with original server ip/port
