First i think the a2dprec.h was missing, which i don't understand. It is in CVS but you do not have it??. Is this still true after an update? Ready yesterday. The reality is that wxArt2D can indeed do those things, but it is mainly a one man show with some help once in a while. And therefore you get what you ask for between the lines ;-) Meaning this will be a big effort from your side, but much less big then doing it yourself from scratch. If you want to be fast, there are enough module like libraries around, which of course you must buy etc. etc. If its your boss pressing you, make these things clear to him. If you yourself did not realize what you promised ( most often the case here ;-) ), well dance! like day say in Brazil ;-) In any case if you are still prepared to dive into this, with all its short comings etc., the editor_wires example comes closest to what you need.
