Ron et. al. I would consider myself an advanced beginner. Most of what I have done outside of just pure learning exercises, is to throw up a frame to ask for some input, calculate some equations(Ham Radio), and fill in some output fields. My latest project involved controlling a Software Defined Receiver(Gqrx) via a Telnet connection. This required me to interface to code outside of the wxGUI which I did using Threads and shared data.
Don't "real"/"non-trival" wxPerl applications need at least some of the concepts listed in the Advanced Topics section? Multi-screens, DB access, custom hardware(Steve), more complex system structure, etc.. That's what my thinking was. Also, in the past, I've asked questions where the answer was, "That control is not used directly, but is subclassed to do what you need". Is it time to move the book discussion into it's own thread?
