Hi all,

Just got up. Went through a complete uninstall of XQuartz, restarted the
machine, tested everything to make sure it wasn't there. Nothing in top,
nothing in the launcher, xclock gone, and $DISPLAY shows a blank line

I then went through a reinstall using the 2.7.7. dmg package. No problem.
Restarted the machine as per installation instructions.
$Display -->/private/tmp/com.apple.launchd.9puGcCVaM8/org.macosforge.xquartz:0

in top:
61859  Xquartz      0.0   00:00.00 2    0    23    808K   0B     0B     61859
61854

Visible in the Launchpad as X11 (but it does not when I click on it)

However, when I type xclock in the command line I see its process:
61828  xclock       0.0   00:00.00 1    0    9     588K   0B     0B     61828
61749

But I do not see a xclock GUI (as I have seen on websites). Surely before even
trying to communicate with remote applications I need to ensure XQuartz is
configured correctly on myside.

Thanks
Anthony

I’m using ssh -X.
