If it is not going to be anytime soon, then I will rely on earl goodman's approach building xerces 2.7 and xalan 1.10 with vc8.

The source for the 3.0 builds is the head of the main svn repository. The source for the corresponding Xalan 1.11 release will also be the head of the Xalan-C repository.
