Yup, The round port cable works with the Kenwood D7a series D72A and the Yaesu VX-8GR. The GR, one uses the same cable as is used with the Kenwoods so one would get that one even though it says it's only for Kenwood. The dataport on the GR can be set to output waypoints.
Now you got me interested - i have a first-gen VX-8 DR . The only thing i know from disseminating the interface back then is: 9600 baud 3.3v - non-standard NMEA, stupid "interpreter" looking for positions in the strings rather than finding the commas...

Did yaesu finally come to grips with that thing on the GR ? Where would i find documentation for this?
