Hi, I am having trouble setting up a small cluster of blades using CentOS 6.2 and xCAT 2.7.1 The services such as dhcp dns tftp-server http have all been tested independantly and seem okay. And I have also tried the previous versions of xCAT 2.6.9, 2.6.10 and 2.6.11 (using atftp) with no success. The recipe that was used was from http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_BladeCenter_Linux_Cluster Also looked at http://sumavi.com/books/xcat-administrators-guide for general guidance.
Can someone please have a look over the xCAT tables, and offer any suggestions. Is the pxe still valid or is there a better boot type for a blade cluster? Is there any problems with using CentOS 6.2 as the management node for an xCAT cluster? Unless someone can help, my next step will be to install CentOS 5.8 with xCAT 2.6.11 in the hope that these previous version are more stable than the latest version. Problem is when I setup blade for net boot of diskfull install process # rbootseq <nodename> net,hd # nodeset <nodename> install # rpower <nodename> boot Messages; # tail -f /var/log/messages May 9 09:45:34 gouda-san xCAT: xCAT: Allowing rpower to gouda1 boot for root from localhost May 9 09:47:19 gouda-san dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:14:5e:3d:b9:54 via eth0 May 9 09:47:19 gouda-san dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on 192.168.111.54 to 00:14:5e:3d:b9:54 via eth0 May 9 09:47:23 gouda-san dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 192.168.111.54 (192.168.111.1) from 00:14:5e:3d:b9:54 via eth0 May 9 09:47:23 gouda-san dhcpd: DHCPACK on 192.168.111.54 to 00:14:5e:3d:b9:54 via eth0 May 9 09:47:23 gouda-san in.tftpd[14254]: RRQ from 192.168.111.54 filename xcat/xnba.kpxe May 9 09:47:23 gouda-san in.tftpd[14255]: RRQ from 192.168.111.54 filename xcat/xnba.kpxe On screen of blade; CLIENT MAC ADDR: 00 14 5E .....
