Thanks, your advice helped a lot. 

Using the bootparams table will make things easier. I did the following;
# tabch node=compute bootparams.addkcmdline="usb-handoff acpi=off noapic"
# nodeset gouda6 netboot=centos6.2-x86_64-compute
And that had the same effect as what I was doing before.

I also found the boottarget table that may be useful.

I need to find a kernel and boot params that work reliably with the HS20 
blades. 
Most of my problems are related to hardware, BIOS, drivers or kernel version.
If anyone has experienced problems with HS20 blades and knows a solution please 
let me know.
