As far as I know you shouldn't use the output of the extension port for anything other than the integrated displays. You should connect it to the other connector instead using a Y-cable. In addition to that the data-port specification says that traffic data will only be supplied to the NMEA stream if the configured baudrate is equal or above 19200.
That means that even though connected to the Flarm as a GPS source it might not transfer and show the traffic in XCSoar. I don't know what the Flarm is actually sending over the extension port but the external displays usually don't care about the GPS position but only about the relative distances to others. I would guess that the Flarm is only sending the traffic sentences on the extension port and not the other GPS data which XCSoar usually requires.
