I have been looking the Flarm technical "Data Port Specification" document:

http://www.flarm.org/support/manual/FLARM_DataportManual_v5.00E.pdf

I note:

<quote>

"Sentence PFLAA

<snip>

Data on other aircraft around, intended for 3rd party devices with
sufficient CPU performance. This sentence should be treated with utmost
flexibility and tolerance on a best effort base

<snip>

Always use PFLAU as primary alarm source"

</quote>

Does XCSoar display "traffic data" which is contained in PFLAA sentences
only, or does it display "alarm data" from PFLAU sentences as well? In
other words could XCSoar miss an alarm situation that would otherwise be
displayed on the native Flarm display?

Personally, having flown with Flarm for over 5 years and with many PDA
systems too, I would strongly advise against removing the primary Flarm
display from the cockpit in favor any PDA device. I am just trying to
get clarification on the functionality that XCSoar provides with respect
to Flarm.

Thanks

Ian
