I didn't mess with the glic libs. I think RH8 ships with the right ones. I'd unenstall 2.2 if you can.
I just went to the XFree site and uses CVS to check out the entire source for XFree86 -- the xc or most current version. Then I compiled and installed it from the source files. It worked. I've still got some issues with the fglrx driver and some sort of ATI control program that doesn't work but it doesn't seem to stop any think else from working. One strange thing that has happened recently is that up2date has died. This is puzzling. Now I'm trying to get the latest version of the gcc files and recompile the gcc compiler set from source. I'm getting stupid errors out of the fortran compiler. Seems that it can't parse nested do loops properly. I think there are some bug patches to XFree available now so I will probably recompile both systems. Well, first I'll do the gcc and run their test suite. Then I'll upgrade XFree. I hope nothing breaks right when I do these changes. Good luck Bill Lea David Woodcock wrote: > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Nissan Motor Co.
