eXist does this, but from my initial inquiries show it has less functionality than xindice...

If you look on the mailing list archive with the search embed you will find some information --- the only code to support it is in CVS and it is unstable... hopefully there will be some progress soon :)

Subject: RE: Embedding XIndice

I think I would be interested in what you are referring to as well…I am developing a demo of an application using normal Xindice as a server but I would be quite interested in embedding Xindice as a invoke-on-demand type config instead of a standing server….the ability to use xindice as an integral part of my application without have to run it as a server app/service would be quite ideal for a final design….

Subject: Embedding XIndice

Hi,

When I mean embedded, I mean using xindice as a normal api, without any tomcat/servers running. I am just going to be using it for storage of documents in my desktop applicaton. (Users are dumb)

I see there was a little bit of talk about this a while back on the mailing list. I am currently trying to get eXist working, and its going well, but would like to be able to use xindice preferably.

Did anyone who tried end up getting the embedded version working, or could someone point me in the right direction to code up an embedded solution?

Any help would be appreciated

Joe Cole
