Setup: RH8, kernel 2.4.20 PSOne (PSX) pad on LPT1 EPP/ECP using gamecon.c xmame (x11) version 0.65.1 nvidia 1.0.4191 XFree86 devfsd-1.3.25
All - I've noticed that my framerate drops by half (to 30fps) when I enable my PSOne (PSX) pad using the linux gamecon.c driver. It doesn't seem to matter whether I use the SDL or x11 versions of xmame. I've tried several different -jt settings (only 1 and 4 work). Screen scaling and extra options (-sl, etc) don't seem to slow things down when the joystick is disabled. My processor is sufficiently powered and I have a generous amount of RAM available. Are there polling issues, or does anyone have any suggestions for minimizing the performance hit when using a parport gamecon PSX pad? This doesn't occur under MAME32 (and other Win32 variants), so it appears to be specific to the gamecon driver. Any suggestions or questions are appreciated. I'm kind of stuck, and a bit bummed I have to boot into Windows to enjoy MAME at the moment. Thanks again! _______________________________________________ Xmame mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://toybox.twisted.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/xmame
