I don't know if it's your case or not.. but if you're using AGP, turn 
it off. Some AGP implementations (i.e. Via) don't work well with the 
binary drivers.

YMMV, it solved my problems.

That worked great. It doesn't seem to like values <5 usec. Now if I
could only get DGA to not lock up my GeForce..
