What is the 274 provider record? I am currently working on HIPAA now and I
am not familiar with this standard. The 275 which requests additional
information is currently under construction and is not under the current
mandate.

I've attached the URL below for the HIPAA Administrative Simplification
website which provides the list of the initial set of EDI standards
mandated. As for time schedule, there is no sequencing - compliance by all
organizations that need to comply is 24 months after the passage of the
rule (August 17, 2000) so the deadline is October 16, 2002.

I have learnt a lot by reading others postings. I had some questions on EDI
as related to HIPAA.
Pardon me if this seems very trivial.
1. I know there is a timeline for adoption of the HIPAA standards.
Is there a time line for adoption of each kind of record type.
I mean a relative priorIty of 834/835 , 270/271 etc.
2. What is the status of 274 provider record.
Are there any other provider data interchange records besides 274
in the pipeline ??
