* Which OS you are using. - Windows XP
* Where you have installed XXE. - C:\xxe-std-28
* Where is you personal directory (i.e. is it the customary
"C:\Documents and settings\<user_name>\"?). - Yes C:\Documents and
Settings\JWoods\xxe2
* Which kind of shared folders do you use (a screenshot of the "My
Computer" window would be fine). - (Attached)

I copied the xxe.jstart.ORI file to the folder C:\xxe-std-28 and started XXE
using the xxe.bat but the console only opened for a second and shut again?

You are the first user to report such problem.

First, you need to make sure that you laptop is really frozen. May be it
is just *extremely* slow. Not saying this to avoid the problem. Just to
be as precise as possible.

[1] Go to "C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor" (or whever you have
installed XXE).

[2] Rename xxe.jstart to xxe.jstart.ORI

[3] Copy attached xxe.jstart to this directory.

[4] Start XXE. This will also open a black, empty, window (a console).
Make sure this console is not obscured by XXE because you'll have to
read and copy by hand the messages it displays. Make this console as
large as possible.

[5] Open a file in XXE.

[6] Please send us by email us what is printed on the console. First
lines are the most important ones.

[7] Please also tell us:
* Which OS you are using.
* Where you have installed XXE.
* Where is you personal directory (i.e. is it the customary
"C:\Documents and settings\<user_name>\"?).
* Which kind of shared folders do you use (a screenshot of the "My
Computer" window would be fine).
