This looks like it would be useful, but I can't get it to work. The macro
runs and asks for a search string, but then nothing happens; in particular,
my web browser doesn't open (or if it's already open, I don't get a new tab
with the above service). Or if I run the macro using Tools | Execute
command, I get a msg in the status bar saying the command returned whatever
search string I type in; the browser does not open.

Looking at the XXE documentation at
 http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor//_distrib/doc/commands/webSearch.html
it seems like even if I don't have the command that Dr Forkl provided in
my .xxe file, I should still be able to call the command webSearch. But in
fact this command does not show up in the list under Tools | Execute
command, and if I type it in anyway, the status bar says "command
'webSearch' not found."

Do I need to do something to enable web searches from XXE? Like specify
something in the Options | Preferences dialog?

We're using XXE Professional v. 4.5.0.
