Indeed, don't worry. It's a "legacy" PDF export, so I'm sure people won't mind if it doesn't have the nicer-looking lines in it. The non-cairo/gtk-print PDF export is still useful because it seems that each of the two PDF export methods works well on most files but really does a horrible job on certain files, in a completely different manner -- so if one produces unacceptable results it's good to have the other around as a backup, but the 'legacy' version doesn't need to have all the latest improvements/optimizations. (I might also implement it when I incorporate the patch into upstream).
