   Like by temporarily lowering the sigBits?  Changing current allocation
behavior makes me uneasy.  Doesn't the specification say something
about this?  I would have thought that to be illegal.  Besides the
quality will drop noticeable.  I used to run in 8 bit most of the
time on my 2 Meg cards.  There was a big difference between 6 and
8 sigBits in xv and Netscape.

   How about a config file option for the size of Render's color cube?
