I'm not an X'pert, so I can't tell you the answer to that question. I can tell you that after building my new kernel, the locking up went away and I was using the same X that I had prior to the compile, so, my experience would seem to indicate it had nothing to do with X.hi, Thanks Rodger and Geoff. I will try the suggested options in the configuraion file and let you know the results. Geoff please tell me whether compiling the kernel would be enough or I need to compile X too?
I would certainly try the config file changes first, as that's not near as painful as rebuilding a kernel. That coming from someone who has lost count of the number of kernels I've built since 1995. (At least 4 this month...)
