Pulled the source from kernel.org (mirror actually), using make xconfig, there is a 'processor family' option which I set to Athlon/Duron/K7.Geoffrey wrote:FYI, I had similar problems with my athlon 1800 xp. I rebuilt the kernel, (specific to this processor) and my problems are gone. Are you running a stock MDK kernel? I'm on 9.0 as well.
Did you take the mandrake source rpm and optimized it for an athlon or did you get the plain (Linus) kernel source?
I'm asking because I'm having a lot of kernel freezes with mdk 9.0 and they're not X related (I think sound but I'm not sure).Mine were usually when playing tuxracer, although I had a couple of lock ups when I was doing some video capture stuff.
