That's how it's commonly done at the field level (the MacOS TextEdit
control does this, for example). But wouldn't work very well for
variables because there'd be awful problems figuring out what to do in
some cases. It'd be like the infamous resource-fork/no-resource-fork
problem when moving data files between Windows and MacOS, but much
worse.
