Why not do C-x T = directly?

I see no reason why go to the changes buffer by C-x T i =

So the real question is: Is there any good reason to commit
without knowing which files have changes and will be part of
the commit?

IMHO not! Even when importing or adding I want to know
which files have changed or are new. In those cases I just
do not care about the --diff, so be may allow the changes
buffer to only show the changes without diff, which is
C-u C-x T = :-)

Do let's drop 1.
