I have a wierd problem with gmusicbrowser.
It plays audio too fast, the pitch is correct but tracks are played
in
half the time they should be, hence the output is somewhat garbled
because 50% of it is sort of missing or at least overlapping.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?
It's on xubuntu 16.04 running on an Acer Aspire laptop.
Two things:
Have you tried another music player to isolate the issue to gmusic
browser
Other music players have different issues, I'm just trying to find
*one* that works. I.e.:-
exaile - doesn't play at all, it gives an error "Playback error
encountered! playsink0: Possible audio device error, is it plugged
in?
parole - gives the error "Gstreamer backend error - Could not
initialise Xv output"
vlc - seems a bit like gmusicbrowser but not quite the same
If they all reported the same error or had the same fault it would be
rather easier to diagnose!
and have you tried running gmusic from command line and pipe
the messages to a custom log:
gmusic 1> ~/Documents/gmb_log
Just running from the command line produces the following:-
chris@acer-aspire:~$ gmusicbrowser
Reading saved tags in /home/chris/.config/gmusicbrowser/gmbrc ...
Reading saved tags in /home/chris/.config/gmusicbrowser/gmbrc ... done
These commands were not found : mpg123, flac123, mpg321, ogg123
=> these file types won't be played by the 123 output : mp3, oga, flac
Is that "These commands were not found" my problem?
Thanks for responding.
That last 'problem' will only be so if you have set up audio in
preferences to use mpg123/etc (I get the same output - and gmb would
work here)
Might be useful to know what audio driver you're using, aplay -l from a
terminal will get that.
I see from the next message from you that you see the issue with even
more players.
Try booting into the Guest User at login rather than your normal user -
do you see the same issue there with music playback?
