Ken, 'We' can already build the new driver fine. That's not the problem here. (Info on the AuroraUX mailing list) I only had one simple warning which I fixed upstream: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-ati/commit/?id=035e8d1d5593c12828bb079de4e663cf1b1f1674
I know your not complaining, I just wondering what your talking about in particular ? I think the optimal way to help out would be to: A.) Read the AMD docs with us on the hw and understand all the registers and how to use AtomBIOS. _or_.. B.) Hound Sun for the GEM code to be 'released' and *upstream*. The GEM stuff is coming from Sun, I already talked with that eng. Should have already been a beta out so it should be 'soon' they just need to get there ass in gear and get the code out into public eyes instead of locking it away and saying "we are working on it". Here is *my* complaint however; Sun get your dam code upstream and _work_ upstream ! Not these random source/binary drops! So we can all work on it, gezz saves you time what's the freaking matter. Any way, that's a demo of me complaining ;) Cheers, Edward. P.S. I am not targeting any _one_ person, however I am sure the read is aware of this and whole I am talking to would also know what I am talking about. 2009/7/14 ken mays <maybird1776 at yahoo.com>: > > --- On Tue, 7/14/09, Martin Bochnig <martin at martux.org> wrote: > >> From: Martin Bochnig <martin at martux.org> >> Subject: Re: [xwin-discuss] [driver-discuss] I would like to help porting >> To: "ken mays" <maybird1776 at yahoo.com> >> Cc: "OpenSolaris X Window System List" <xwin-discuss at opensolaris.org>, >> "Frank Middleton" <f.middleton at apogeect.com> >> Date: Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 12:46 PM >> On Tue, Jul 14, 2009 at 6:25 PM, ken >> mays<maybird1776 at yahoo.com> >> wrote: >> > >> > >> > >> > --- On Tue, 7/14/09, Frank Middleton <f.middleton at apogeect.com> >> wrote: >> > >> >> From: Frank Middleton <f.middleton at apogeect.com> >> >> Subject: Re: [xwin-discuss] [driver-discuss] I >> would like to help porting >> >> To: "Ken Mays" <maybird1776 at yahoo.com>, >> "OpenSolaris X Window System List" <xwin-discuss at opensolaris.org> >> >> Date: Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 10:35 AM >> >> On 07/13/09 10:35 AM, Ken Mays >> >> wrote: >> >> >> >> > The other comment I made was in approaching >> AMD (with >> >> possible Sun's >> >> > support) and seriously talking to them about >> bringing >> >> over the closed >> >> > source AMD Radeon Catalyst display drivers >> for >> >> Solaris/OpenSolaris. >> >> >> >> Good luck!
