Crud.  I forgot I don't have an uncle Bob :(  The libvbe.so "fix" worked
on the first reboot.  Since then, it hangs after displaying a few stars
in the "wait for gui login" message.  Consistently.

Selecting the "vesa" driver in xorg.conf causes a kernel panic - but not
a hang.

Going back to Xsun seems to work reliably - so far.

Anything else I can test/try?
