It was built out of the X consolidation until build 54 or so, at which point we removed it and g11n added it. > I also fail to find out, where I might get the src and/or pkgdefs for it, I > cannot find it in the (public) g11 consolidation, neither in src, nor as > re-distributable binary package: > http://dlc.sun.com/osol/g11n/downloads/software/current/g11n-src-structure.txt We'll have to ask them about that - I'll send a separate note on that in a minute. > But what are we doing here, working on a *FullyOPEN*-X? > If that is the case, having to depend on un-redistributable binary pkgs isn't > of too much use. Since they're based on open source, they should be both source & binary redistributable, but we'll need the G11n team to do that. > I also think we can finally set the packaging version information to the true > value which is 7.2.0 now, rather than continuing the downward_to_Solaris10 > compatibility nonsense of still taking 6.8.x or 6.9.x as value: The version isn't set like that for any compatibility reason, but simply because I hadn't gotten around to changing it. I was actually planning to change it to "11" so that it wasn't confused with the Xorg version number, since they aren't tied together, especially with the current Solaris package/patch system. (Perhaps the IPS system will rectify this, so we don't have situations like we do now on Solaris 10, where the package versions are 6.8.0, but contain Xorg 7.2, since the package versions don't change after the release ships and all further updates move to patches.) > p.s. No, I don't even know where the SUNWxorg-xkb source & pkgdefs are any more, I'd have to ask g11n for those. The pkgdefs I've promised to publish are for the packages like SUNWxwplt, so you can see what's left to replace. -- -Alan Coopersmith- alan.coopersmith at sun.com Sun Microsystems, Inc. - X Window System Engineering
