Netti,
I finally did find some Yahoo directories last
night (they didn't show up because they were "Yahoo!" and I didn't look for the
exclamation mark). I deleted these, and the registry entries (one was a
"run ypager" but the ypager had been deleted).
Same problem with both v6 and v5.6 messenger.
I'll give v5.5 messenger a try too, just-in-case.
FYI, I'm finally convinced myself that the codec
really is installed by creating a "DSP TrueSpeech" encoded file at work and then
trying to listen to it at home. With NT saying "use this codec" it works,
but if I disable the codec, it doesn't. So I have installed the correct
codec ;-).
Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. I'll have
another try tonight!

"missing" codec
Ok Paul, first.. If you have a yahoo folder, it would
be located in C:/program files/yahoo
Or whereever you put it if you
changed where you wanted it to be d/l too.
If you did change it, my
suggestion is to put it in your c drive because then its easier to find the
files you need.
Secondly, YES yahoo is having big issues with Windows
NT. But d/l an older version should have taken care of this. I
would also try v. 5.5 1226.
When you said you saw the file and it
was there.. WHERE exactly did you see it? It could be that the file
is not in the correct directory and not registered, and therefore yahoo
messenger can't find it.
Please advise. Netti
