The "Welcome To Yahoo Messenger" or "Yahoo News" page that pops up when you sign on is something you can set in your "Preferences". On your main YM Friends List Window, click on the "Messenger" menu, then choose "Preferences" and go through each section setting it up. The "Inside Yahoo" news page is on the General section. Just uncheck "Show Inside Yahoo!" and click apply.
