Hi Linda, Did you try the inverse, ie. logging out of both ids, then on the desktop login the id you used on the laptop and on the laptop login the one you had used on the desktop. This will determine whether the problem is at your end or with Yahoo! If the desktop logs out again, then its at your end, if the laptop logs out then it's the Yahoo configuration.
Another thing to try is this. Yahoo has a new login screen for the web, there is a box to keep you logged in for the next 8 hours. I suggest you login on the web before you start the messenger for the repective machines and id.
