Hey Lenny,
I beg to differ! I have both Gmail and Yahoo accounts!

I have a high volume of emails in both accounts mostly from the various groups
I subscribe to such as this group. Yahoo employs Domain Keys to filter most
spam. A lot of spammers spoof their email address to avoid detection. Domain
keys verifies if it really came from let's say hotmail.com and if not it goes
into the bulk folder! But I found out if you hit the Spam key and Spam Guard is
activated, you may get one or two more similar spams before Spam Guard kicks
in. I think they may do this in case you may have hit the spam button in error.
If spam does get through and it is a Yahoo email address and it passed the
Domain keys I forward the email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . That always gets rapid
action on their part.

With Gmail, I was getting all sorts of Spam until I setup my own filters. Yahoo
only allows 15 filters while at Gmail I have setup more than 50! And more
choice of actions! A lot of the Spam I receive come from the groups I belong to
both Yahoo and Google. Usually if the offender had a Yahoo address and I
reported him/her to Yahoo, Yahoo takes almost immediate action. If however the
offender had a Gmail address and I reported it to the Gmail abuse email
address, no action was taken. I had one guy with a Gmail address spamming about
25 of the groups I belong to and as often as 5 times a day for each group. I
complained to Gmail many times and no action was taken. So I upped it a notch,
at all the groups he was spamming to I would set my email address to my Gmail
account. I then created a filter to forward the spam to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
then delete the message. Within a week he was history. Another use I have for
filters is for those who cross-post to
various groups. For example, I belong to about 6 humor groups. Sometimes a guy
will post a joke to 2 or more of these groups. I don't want to see the same
jokes 5 times so I'll filter his email address along with 4 of the groups and
have Gmail to simply delete them but not report them as Spam.

The bottom line is now I get about 2 spams or other unwanted emails a day from
either account which is not bad considering I get between 600 to 800 emails
from my combined accounts.

Start using http://www.Gmail.com instead of Yahoo mail. Yahoo has horrible
spam filters. I rarely get any spam in my inbox through my Gmail accounts
and I get hundreds of messages a day. With my one Yahoo account, I only get
1-2 emails a day and 5-6 spam emails come through with the 1-2 good ones.

As always, with any email service, it's good to check your spam folder
daily
to make sure good mail didn't get put into the spam folder by accident.

Subject: [Y!M] Spam and vulgar messages

I continually get vulgar requests coming into my mail. Most times the email
used doesn't match my name exactly such as my email is
[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:larisanageli%40yahoo.com> but it will be
addressed to [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:larisagraig%40yahoo.com> . The
messages in the subject line will be ones such as "come watch me
shower", "I
just bought sex toys, watch me use them at....". I am embarrassed by them
and now I am starting to become irritated and angry over them. They don't
come from the same persons.
Does anyone know if I inadvertly invited such messages and if there is any
way, except to change my address, to get them to leave me alone?
