Help in reducing spam email messages.

Here's a couple things to keep in mind to prevent receiving spam
messages.

Never use your main email address to fill out forms on the net, or on
paper. These usually get sold to companies who then send out mass
mailings either selling something or invite you to join their porn site.

Make yourself another yahoo account that I call a spam account.
Everytime someone wants you to put an email address down to view a web
page, or to join a web page, etc. use that 2nd account.

Save your Main account for friends ONLY.

A couple things happen. Your email address gets sold to two groups of
people. One group who buy ANY email address, and another group who
only purchase VERIFIED emails. Once those people get your address,
they in turn sell it to others, etc. etc.

If you've ever seen a sentence at the bottom which says "click here to
be removed from the mailing", what you are usually doing is telling
that person that you are REAL and that you have a verified working
email. My suggestion is NEVER click the button to remove yourself
from a mailing list.

Another thing that happens is people use "gofer" programs. These
programs go out and search the internet (including Groups like this
one) for email addresses. Then sell them for a profit.

I know it sounds like a pain, but this is what I've done.

I have 3 email addresses.

One is my main account which only my friends have.
One is my spam account which I use when a site tells me I MUST put
down a valid email address.
The third is the email address I use if I have to purchase something
online. That way I have my confirmations, order, and tracking
information if needed.

As was said here earlier... anything you get but don't want, MARK as
spam. If you feel you are receiving the same email from the same
person over and over, then BLOCK that email address.

Good Luck.
