While I do not mind getting off-list messages, it's better for the group to
get them on-list, as others may have more info on your problem or be helped
by it. I am forwarding this reply to the group... especially since I am not
that familiar with Mac's Operating System or the YM version for Macs which
is completely different from the YM version for Windows.

Initially, it sounds like it could be a firewall or proxy issue. I've seen
this before, even recently, where someone had to go into their YM
Preferences (main Messenger Menu, then Preferences, then Connection
section). Let us know what it's set on now and try tweaking that section to
see if that fixes things.

If you have a firewall, it could be that Yahoo sent an update to YM and the
new/updated version is being blocked by the firewall. This often happens to
updated programs for Windows where the firewall was previously set to give
outbound and inbound permission for one version but then the new version has
to also be given permission to connect to the internet.

You mention "email" at the end so I want to be sure... are you having
problems with YM (Yahoo Messenger), the actual download program or are you
having problems using the IM feature that is built into Yahoo Mail? You
also mentioned Safari, which I know is the web browser that is provided by
Apple so that further makes me wonder if you are talking about the IM
feature available via Yahoo Mail, rather than YM itself.

Let us know.
