OK. Since it's working on WebMessenger, that means that it's not your
ID/Password. Is YM for Mac 3.0 Beta still in Beta after a "year or two"?

Which actual version do you have? Click Help Menu, then About to find out
which version.

In a quick Google search, I'm finding a few "builds" of YM for Mac 3.0,
including some that appear to NOT be in Beta and some that are still in
Beta... but Beta 4.

3.0 Beta 4 Build 178870
http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Internet-Utilities/Yahoo-Messenger.shtml

3.0 Build 156957 (from APPLE's own website)
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/email_chat/yahoomessengerformac.html

And others too numerous to mention.

And of course, Yahoo's own download page (which I DO NOT recommend as a
source for YM), http://messenger.yahoo.com/mac/ which just shows YM for Mac
Beta 3.0 but no Build number listed (Yahoo sucks with the details and we all
know... the devil is in the details!) Well, after clicking around a bit, I
did find this page http://messenger.yahoo.com/download/mac/ which lists the
current downloadable version as Yahoo! Messenger for Mac ver. 3.0 build
178870... same Build number but no mention of Beta 4 as mentioned above at
the Softpedia site.

If you do not have the most current version, I would suggest downloading a
FULL version of YM for Mac 3.0, Build 178870, NOT the installer version that
is offered from Yahoo's pages. You could even try the version that is
offered from Apple's pages (link above). It may actually be the latest
version but they simply did not update the webpage. Downloading a FULL
sized version of a program from a 3rd party site is preferred over the
Installer version.

Last but not least, you might have to go back to an older version. I still
run YM 8.1x on three of my computers and only have 9.0x on my Vista computer
and the only reason I did that was so I could have some experience with 9.0x
for helping others in this group.

Subject: Re: Help (Judith's problem with YM for Mac's)

Thx for reply

To clarify...

1. I use Yahoo Messenger separate from Yahoo EMail....
I downloaded a year or two ago when I got this computer. It is version 3.0
Betal

2. I did what you said went into Preferences.....connection and the
firewall dot is not selected..
so I selected it (rather than the default option) and the same circling
occurs...and occurs as I type.
the other selections in preferences are default...(selected) and
BroadbandDSL United States...Selected...

3. I bookmarked yahoo messenger from the web the link below
http://webmessenger.yahoo.com/index.php

and signed in that way...and it worked but without the ruler/tools that
includes Webcam... that I get with Yahoo messernger

Thanks for your help....I really appreciate it.
