Hello Judith, I can't speak for Y!M for the Mac, but, for the last month or so, I've experienced some problems using the Macintosh program, Adium X (which is an IM program), at least as far as connecting to the Y!M server. The other IM servers (AIM, MSN, etc.) seemed to work fine. Also, I was able to see Y!M working fine while I was inside of the Safari web browser on my Yahoo! Mail web site but still not working with Adium X.
http://www.adium.im/ I later upgraded my copy of Adium X to the latest version (1.3.5) and have been able to successfully connect fine with the Y!M server, so no problems anymore. I don't know if all of these changes with Yahoo! has had anything to do with this or not. Because that seems to be when all of this happened. Since there hasn't been any upgrade in awhile with Y!M, I'm really not sure why this hasn't been working very well, but I'm suspecting that Yahoo! has updated their network somehow and this has changed a few things needed with Y!M. Again, this is just a guess on my part. If you're still experiencing some problems with Y!M for Mac, I would suggest you downloading Adium X, at least for a little while.
