Are you familiar with installing new programs in Vista, using the UAC (User Access Controls), etc?
I would strongly recommend that you download YM 9.0x from http://www.FileHippo.com since 10.0x is still in BETA, and I'll presume that you are not a computer tech type person. It's not good for computer novices to be BETA testing new programs that will likely cause some problems... which is why they are still in the BETA testing mode. If you downloaded YM from the *official* Yahoo site, http://messenger.yahoo.com, then you only downloaded a smaller installer program, not the FULL sized program. This installer version is more likely to cause problems with the installation... especially with the security features (UAC) and if one has a more advanced FREE firewall like Comodo, Zone Alarm, etc., instead of the el cheapo Windows Firewall.
