Have you downloaded and installed it yet? If not, go to http://www.filehippo.com/download_yahoo_messenger/ and on the right side, you can download either 8.1.0.421 or 9.0.0.2162.
Download and save that to your desktop or your preferred place to save downloaded programs (I have a folder in My Documents called "Computer-Downloaded Programs"). Once it is downloaded, then you should uninstall any previous versions of YM, do a Registry clean-up (see my blog article http://lennyvasbinder.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-i-always-do-clean-instal-ofl- yahoo.html), reboot your computer and then go back to the program that you downloaded, either YM 8.1x or YM 9.0x and click on the .exe file to start the installation process. MAKE SURE you do an advanced installation and UNCHECK any boxes for installing toolbars or any other add-ins that Yahoo may have bundled with the YM download. I forget which add-ins were bundled with those downloads. Once it is installed, you should be able to sign in with your Yahoo ID and password, then go to Preferences and go through each section and set your preferences, then go to the Help Menu and there is an Audio/Video Help that will run a check on your sound/video (if you have video) to make sure those are also set properly for YM.
