Comrade Mxolisi, I had raised a matter of selective approach in regard to nationalisation. That is my main point. I don't blame any one but raise the issue of consistency in handling similar matters. Maybe I might get a better explanation on the wisdom of the leadership not to question the telkom deal but to focus on mines.
I hope this matter is raised in a YCL forum, and expecting those who are members to take this matter further of nationalisation. What will happen if another state owned enterprise is sold as cde Hogan suggests? Will we be quite or engage? I don't expect that we will dwell in a matter that had already been concluded but how best to move forward in a way that will bring back these people's institutions, telkom, mines, saa, and the likes. Cde Domza had raised a matter of the BRT system, YCL is another structure that needs to raise a voice not only in terms of supporting the concept but also against these tendency of broerskaap. The media had tainted a picture of an alex mafia that continuously benefit in gauteng tender system. When such matters are found to be true, this will mean that when the mafia has interests, you will not see nationalisation and only where there mafias are not interested nationalisation will kick off. The other matter that had been raised is regard to the old mines been nationalised. As much that will assist to a certain extent but I don't expect us to put our energy on crumbs. If we nationalised mines, it must be 100% of existing mines and those still on the pipeline. The matter of salaries of managers in these institutions needs to be looked at and be capped at a certain level. Salaries of executive managers are a tool to loot state resources. Check their bonuses. I will not be surprised if I learn that the get bonuses daily. sabc and saa are perfect two examples. Let's engage on these matter, not to blame one another but to capacitate each other. Each one teach one To all comrades, please assist me with a soft copy of MCPD study materials and Linux in a Nutshell. if anyone of us have one of the two books or both please send them to [email protected] Amandla Wonder 072 3046 338 -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mxolisi Mlatha Sent: 10/07/2009 09:50 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [YCLSA Discussion] Re: the NP govt was more socialist than the ANC govt. Comrade Wonder The approach of questioning why the League was quiet during the Telkom saga at this stage is like those who raise the "WE TOLD YOU SO" sentiment, when a political issue present itselfs. In as much as the ANC is a contested political terrain in terms of ideological predominance the same can be said about the ANCYL. The important issue is what we do when the league's perspectives converge with ours as it is on the issue of nationalization. Hence I earlier said their public declaration has openned a much needed public debate and has in my view in a sense also opened an oppportunity for a discussion on a left orienated economic discourse. We can thus discuss the modalities and charecter of nationalization in the current context to advance working class interests. Its safe to state this for now.
