Even if things do go back to 'normal' (which is never determined in advance)
the outcome still matters because it affects confidence of workers in their
own activity and therefore the balance of class forces when next there is an
attack from capital.

I didn't. I went on strike marches and to picket lines. I talked to a lot of
union members and ordinary workers. I listened to the speeches from the
platform. How did you reach your conclusions?

Ceruti

Is this your own interpretation or what is your view on the
matter? What is the meaning of COSATU's stalinist
stranglehold over the workers that you are refering to, can
you explain what you mean or what you understand it to
mean? the last time I check except for the doctors strike
which was an unprotected strike, all the recent strike
actions were led by COSATU unions the most recent being the
SAMWU and CEPPAWU strikes.

We should not become too imaginary when the facts are all
there before us to digest. Neither should we seek to solely
understand what is before us through the lense of the
media. I still maintain that there is a great hyperbole
about the essense of these strikes. Ofcourse the cyclical
capitalist economic downturn has meant that the militancy
of the workers is heightned, but does this mean these
struggles are anti capitalist or normal within the
framework of the logic of capitalism. Therefore we can
conclude that once wage agreements are reached every thing
will go back to "normal".
