Comrades,

I watched in dismay and shock the National Women Rally meant to celebrate the
womans' day. It was a government organised event that had sent a misleading
image.

The Program Directors (or MCs) wear dressed in ANCWL regalia which purport or
sent a message that reduces such a government event to an ANCWL event. Adding
to the woes were the misunderstanding of the attendants of the status of the
event such that women leaders from other parties (in particular) COPE were
heckled while speaking.

I do not believe in inclusivity. Our government should not allow government
events to be addressed by political parties. In any way, political parties have
parliament as a platform to debate issues. All these leaders including the COPE
representative should not have been given the podium to address our women. Some
political parties were not in existence during the women's march, so what is it
that they can speak of in such gatherings.

Why were youth leaders not accorded such a platform in the celebration of youth
day. Political parties should organise rallies in their own name to echo their
sentiments in relation to such events. I am convinced that government did not
think properly in the planning phase for the womens' event. The attendants did
not want to listen to the president of the country when he called order on them.

The ANC leads goverment but the distinction should be made between government
events and that of the organisation. Amandla!!!!
