I think that's the point that some others are trying to make, though... http://google.com and http://www.google.com
...are discrete URLs; they may actually point to the same content, but by no means are they required to do so. It's effectively the same issue as http://absono.us and http://seamonkeyrodeo.blogspot.com pointing to the same content, and there's no way (other than parsing the actual content of each linked item) to determine whether the content at a particular URL will be the same as any other variation of that URL. It's conceivable that this isn't even something that it would be practical to change on del.icio.us, since the url key appears to be the hash value for a given URL, so that could be a key there.
