Forums are Usenet, only worse - who ever invented that mechanic did something wrong imho. I have to go there and have usually register myself to post (which is often more complicated to register for a mailing-list and for Usenet it is not necessary) because of spammers, to see if there's new stuff somewhere I have to visit the forum (unfortunately they have rather rarely RSS-support), I can follow threads maybe by mail (but usually I do not get the message by mail - only that there is something new) and for posting I have to visit it. Forums are a bad thing. If someone wants to create a forum I would suggest that a GoogleGroup is created - then you have a forum with RSS, you can answer threads you follow by mail and answer those by mail but I'm not sure if you can follow it by the newsnet-client of your choice (I think that functions only with "real" newsnet-list).
