after some discussion with people around these items were mentioned to
be mandatory in any desktop release today:
I was about to write a mail regarding this, and now its there :)- Native optimised Open Office support
- Mail Client that supports corporate mail systems (Exchange and GW)
- flash and java support out of the box
- Multimedia support out of the box
Agreed.Open Office is in the top list when i discussed with LUG.They told, Yoper needs to have Open Office since M$ ".doc" format being the standard in many companies. But i personally like KOffice :). It rocks!
Flash support can be given, provided we show the Flash License Agreement to the User as we cannot just pack in Yoper ISO.Similar issues for JRE too.
Tobias, is it Java or JRE?
For Multimedia support, i wanted to discuss regarding Mp3/DVD support in Yoper.I think we need to get MP3/DVD license so that we can provide mp3/dvd support along with Yoper ISO. I am not sure of this, but many distributions do this (i mean the major - SuSE,Linspire,Mandrake.,), but RedHat and Fedora dont care about this!.
Here is the original link which describes everything about mp3.

Xgl and Kat were mentioned on this list, too. I think KAT should go in
there soon, but Xgl isn't that mature anyway. A lot of issues are
still uncovered and hardware support cannot be considered as mature as
well.
Agreed.Anybody willing to share his thoughts about Xgl ?
cheers
